How are cutoff ages determined?
For all players the cutoff age is determined by the age of the player on July 31. The soccer year runs the same as a school year, August to June. Players stay in the same age group the entire soccer year. See Travel or In-house for more information.

What does the "U" mean in U6, U8, U10...?
The "U" stands for "Under". Therefore, U-6 means Under 6. Players cannot turn 6 by the cutoff age to be eligible to play that season. Basically, for U-6 teams the players are 4 and 5 years old; for U-8 teams the players are 6 and 7 years old; and so forth.

When are games played and practices held?
For Travel teams, the games are played mostly on Sunday afternoons. In the Spring there will be Saturday games as well. For In-house teams, the games are played on Saturday mornings. Practices for either type teams are determined by the coach and can vary on the days of the week. Most coaches practice on weekday evenings. U6 and U 8 teams practice once or twice a week for about an hour. Older teams can practice as much as one and a half hours twice a week, sometimes more.

Where are games and practices held?
All HSC teams must practice in Highland. For Travel teams, games can be anywhere in northwest Indiana. Half of the season is played in Highland and the other half away. For In-house teams all the games are played in town.

What type of equipment does the player need to have?
The player MUST have shin guards in order to play. Soccer shoes should also be worn. Baseball cleats are not allowed. Travel players need to bring a soccer ball to practice. All players should bring a water bottle to practice and games. For more information go to Travel Equipment or In House Equipment.

How long is the season?
The Travel teams usually play 8 to 10 games. The spring season lasts about 7 weeks (early April to early June) with at least two or three weekends with Saturday and Sunday games. The fall season lasts about 8 to 10 weeks (late August to early November). The In-house teams play 8 games in both seasons. Both Travel and In-house skip the major holiday weekends such as Easter, Memorial Day, and Labor Day.

Can I request to play with a certain coach or player?
Although requests are discouraged, the club makes attempts to honor them but with NO GUARANTEES. Refunds will not be approved because requests are not honored.

How much does it cost to play?
The cost to play soccer is $55 per player. There is a discount for siblings of $5 (e.g. 1st child-$55, 2nd-$50, 3rd & up-$45). For the In-house teams the fee includes a T-shirt. Black shorts and black socks can be purchased at most sports and retail stores. Travel players must purchase uniforms separately through the club. Non-resident players are charged an extra $5 per player. All fees and prices are subject to change without further notice.

What is the club's refund policy?
After you register your child and up to the first game, you can only get back 50% of your money. After the first game you get no money back. You must notify the President of the Club before the first game in order to get some money back.
